The Universal, Existential Sigh

The mission across town to grab a copy of Radiohead's free newspaper, The Universal Sigh, was "successful." By which I mean I have a copy in my possession. But the process pretty much destroyed my faith in humanity. Also, I am given to exaggeration.

The scene: the interactive map says 4 Union Square East, but the address on the website says 4 Union Square South. I decide to wait at USS, along with a few others. We find out that we're in the wrong place, rush over to USE, and take our place in line. Finally we're within striking distance of the handout point. I am three away. There are three papers left in the nice girl's hand. I am going to get the last one! But the guy behind me realizes he might be out of luck and rushes ahead of me and snags the last copy.

Of course there are tons more in her messenger bag, and I get a copy in another moment. The damage, though, is done. Someone connect this to income inequality or tax breaks or that sort of thing; I'm too demoralized and not up to the task.
